Chapter - 3 Trader Vic's. In the early 1930's, "Trader" Vic Bergeron ran a beer join in Oakland called the Hinky Dink, which was renamed in 1937 and revamped in tikified Polynesia after an inspiring visit to Don the Beachcomber in L.A. Ther were once many a Trader Vic's, though now only four remainin America, one being right here in L.A.Although much of its interior has been compromised, this Beverly Hills landmark retains its outsttanding 1955 signage and giant tiki. A grat place for Scorpians and Zombies and the deadly Puka-Puka, not to mention the Mai-Tai, which was invented by the Trader himself. Photo by Nigel Cox
